Glad to see The Debt To Pleasure getting some love. Travel and relocation have reduced my collection of physical books to a chosen few, and my first edition copy of this clever novel is one of them. It's difficult to describe this book without spoilers, but you did a nice job!

I feel like it's an onion sort of story, the layers keep peeling back the deeper you get into the book.

Thanks for the shout out and for what I'm taking as an unconditional green light to eat as much JP Licks coffee cookies and cream as I want to this summer...which won't be much because of the puppy, but I like the idea of the aspirational amounts of my ice-cream-loving heart.

Also, the Magic Bitter Magic Sweet cover is gorgeous--how close is the story to Aimee Bender's The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake?

Totally different. MGMS is pure fantasy vs. magical realism. And while Maire bakes emotions into her pastries, Rose tastes emotions in the food that others make. So opposites in some ways! Both are delicious reads.

And yes, eat all the ice cream!
