I have a little countdown clock on my Notion dashboard, which tells me that, as I’m typing this, there are 48 days until the launch of In The Garden of Monsters. By the time this lands in your inbox, there will be only 46. It’s wild to think that in just a few weeks, my latest labor of love will be out in the world.
I’ll be hanging with Mark Cecil, the host of the excellent Thoughtful Bro podcast, part of the Mighty Blaze Network. If you love books, you should subscribe ASAP because he interviews some really fascinating people. It’s one of the reasons why I asked if he would be in conversation with me at my launch. The other reason is because he’s someone who knows how to take a familiar myth and flip it on its head. In his case, he drew upon the American folktales of Paul Bunyan and John Henry and turned them into a fantastic adventure tale that you won’t want to put down.
If you’re in the Boston area, stop in and see us at Harvard Bookstore in Cambridge’s Harvard Square on September 24th at 7 PM. In addition to the conversation with Mark, I’ll also show scenes of the Sacro Bosco garden in Bomarzo and some of the ways it influenced the painter Salvador Dalí. And, of course, I’ll be signing books!
